Dear NACCHO members,
In honor of Public Health Thank You Day, I’d like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to you and your health departments for all that you do to protect and promote the health and resiliency of your communities every day.
The work of local public health is challenging; local health departments confront a range of multifaceted public health issues—everything from infectious disease outbreaks to natural disasters—while providing the indispensable foundational services that enable communities to thrive. This work is often underappreciated and underfunded.
Despite these challenges, I know NACCHO members to be among the most dedicated, passionate public servants in our country. I’ve had the opportunity to witness first-hand the ways in which you adeptly adapt evidence-based practices and develop new solutions to meet the unique needs of each community, creating health, security, and equity for all.
Your commitment to public health inspires NACCHO’s work in every way. Whether we’re testifying on Capitol Hill, providing technical assistance, or piloting new programs, my staff and I show up to work every day to ensure that we deliver on NACCHO’s mission: to improve the health of communities by strengthening and advocating for local health departments. Today and every day, we’ll continue our efforts to amplify your voice and champion the critical work that you do.
On behalf of NACCHO’s staff, Board of Directors, and partners, thank you.
Warmly,
Lori Tremmel Freeman
